Beginning Aug. 1, Schuylkill County Comcast cable customers maysee a rate hike.
While the amount will vary depending upon the services subscribedto, customers should be prepared for an average 3.3 percent increasestarting Aug. 1, a company spokesman said.
Comcast provides cable, Internet and phone service.
The last increase was August 2010 and averaged 3.5 percent.
"We've worked hard to hold down price adjustments, even given theimpact of higher programming costs," Bob Grove, director of publicrelations and community affairs for the Keystone Region, wrote in anemail.
"These adjustments will not impact a majority of our customersbecause they currently receive services as part of a promotionaloffer," he said.
For example, the price for limited basic service will increase 60cents to $13.50, according to company literature.
"We continue making investments in next-generation technology toadd value to our products and improve service. Recently we addedmore than 50 HD, SD and 3D channels, increased Internet speeds andintroduced new interactive applications and content that customerswant and value - like Xfinity TV with over 150,000 online choices,"Grove said.
A company pamphlet dated July 1 lists prices for variouspackages, installation and service prices/administration charges.
While some prices will go up, others will remain the same ordecrease.
